My emergence will strengthen Africa’s focus- Gaya

Former Kano State governor and serving Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (APC-Kano State), at the weekend, said his election as the Vice President, Africa at the International Parliamentary Union (IPU), will further strengthen and unite the continent.

The lawmaker who represents Kano-North Senatorial District at the Senate promised not to fail Nigeria or Africa.

Senator Gaya, who spoke to reporters in Sokoto said, “?My election into this position of the prestigious global body of over 177 countries is a good sign for Nigeria and Africa, generally.”

The three-time Senator spoke on the sidelines of a three-day retreat organised by the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its officials and stakeholders on political party management.

According to him, the key position he now occupies would henceforth enable Africa to speak with one voice as a bloc.

”This will come more handy and crucial in myriad of international fora such as the various organs of the United Nations.
