Emir of Biu ‘endorses’ lawmaker’s re-election bid

The lawmaker representing Biu/Bayo/Kwaya/Kusar/Shani Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Aliyu Betara has said the Emir of Biu in Borno State Alhaji Mustapha Biu, has endorsed his re-election bid.

The lawmaker, who is also Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, stated this yesterday after presenting his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to the Emir in his palace.

He quoted the Emir as saying that he had positively transformed the lives of his constituents and described the support he was getting from them as unprecedented.

The Emir noted that it was the first time constituents of Biu/Bayo/Kwaya/Kusar/Shani contributed money to buy nomination forms for a politician in appreciation of the positive impact made on their lives.

The traditional ruler said Betara had done a lot for the constituency and that, in just one year Biu, Kwaya Kusar, Bayo and Shani have witnessed massive positive transformation due to the lawmaker’s interventions.

Betara stated that the Emir said he was hopeful that he would emerge as the Speaker of the House of Representatives if re-elected so as to attract more benefits to the constituents.

Betara’s colleagues who accompanied him to the palace were Senator Haliru Jika, Umar Bago, Ahmed Jaha, and Kabir Tukura.

Expressing appreciation to the constituents for their support Betara said: “I feel happy to come to my constituency. Every time they elect me, I have things I do for my people.
