MAYOR of Urhobo, Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro has called on the Presidency to hold Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Edo State Governor, Godwin Obsaki, responsible if there is post-election violence.
Speaking in Abuja, Akpodoro said Obaseki issued a threat by his “If APC wins the 2023 presidential election, Nigeria will break,” comment.
He said tPDP should be closely monitored to forestall crisis if All Progressives Party (APC) wins the election.
Akpodoro said National Security Adviser to the President, Babangana Monguno, the Yusuf Bichi-led Department of State Security, and other agencies should investigate the governor and his ‘failed party’.
Obaseki, he noted, crossed the red line with what he described as threat to national security in his “avoidable flippancy and desperation” to impress his presidential candidate.
The Ughelli-born ex-militant said if Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC’s presidential standard bearer, wins the election, heavens will not fall, because Nigerians are peace loving.
“He should be closely monitored. He may know more in terms of initiating and executing violence and I call on our securirty agencies to tame him.
”Nobody can threaten this country. Most of us are stakeholders in the Nigerian project…
‘’We have younger generations that we grow and develop so, we won’t alow a fig tree to threaten our nation,” Akpodoro said.
“Rather than issue threats, as his tenure winds down, Obaseki should tell us his achievements in infrastructure and human development other than rolling out bulldozers to demolish citizens’ properties vindictively.”
He challenged the governor to showcase his legacies as governor, saying no product of perfidy can ever get it right in governance.
The Urhobo mayor advised the governor to beg his political godfather – ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole for “his Judaic conduct after making him governor because God frowns at ingratitude”.
He noted that a man, who betrayed his benefactor and mentor, can never be a good governor let alone deliver quality service.
