A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Godspower Umejure Ake, fondly called G. U. Ake, is dead.
Ake, who quit the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, died of prostate cancer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, on Monday night.
He was 76.
The ex-PDP chieftain’s death was confirmed by his younger brother, Senator Wilson Asinobi Ake, on Tuesday.
He said no date had been fixed for the burial.
