An ex-service man in military uniform, Dubi Elisha, has been arrested in Yola, Adamawa State, for possessing two rifles belonging to the Air Force (NAF).
NAF’s Commander of 37 Base Services Group Air Commodore Haruna Umar said Elisha was arrested with five others by a joint patrol of the Air Force and men of the Department of State Services (DSS).
“Dubi Elisha, a business man at Numan, was arrested by men of the Nigeria Air Force, in a joint operation with DSS personnel. He was found with a missing FN Rifle belonging to NAF, among other weapons.
“Dubi was identified to be an ex-service man discharged from the Army.”
Umar said the rifles were stolen by James Dauda, who was also among the arrested suspects.
“After a series of interrogation, Dauda confessed to stealing the rifles and selling them to Elisha, who eventually led to the latter’s arrest.
“Dauda’s voluntary confessional statement also disclosed the involvement of other accomplices, Saul Chamak, Yaro Philemon, Martins Bwara and Tatula Moses, who have all been arrested.
“Other items recovered from the suspects included “browning pistol, a double-barrelled gun, 30 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, 30 shot-gun cartridges, three arrows, desert camouflage military uniform and 7.62mm live ammunition,” he added.
