A former Vice Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Prof. Adekunle Bashiru Okesina, has been nominated as an executive board member of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC).
Okesina, who is the President of African Federation of Clinical Chemistry (AFCC) and a consultant chemical pathologist at the Department of Chemical Pathology and Immunology of the University of Ilorin UNILORIN) in Kwara State, has recorded history as the first Nigerian and Black African to represent Africa on IFCC executive board.
He will serve for three years, effective from 2018, with five other representatives, including Prof. Abderrazek Hedhili (Tunisia) – Arab Federation of Clinical Biology (AFCB), Dr. Sunil Sethi (Singapore) Asia-Pacific Federation for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (APFCB), Prof. Sverre Sandberg (Norway) European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM), Dr. Rosa Sierra-Amor (Mexico) – Latin-American Confederation of Clinical Biochemistry (COLABIOCLI), Dr. Ann Gronowski (USA) – North American Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (NAFCC) and Dr. Rolf Hinzmann (Roche Diagnostics) as corporate Representative.
Membership of IFCC executive board 2018-2020 also includes the President: Prof. Howard Morris (Australia), Past President: Prof. Maurizio Ferrari (Italy), Secretary: Dr. David Kinniburg (Canada) and Treasurer: Prof. Tomris Ozben (Turkey).
