ON Thursday, afrobeat singer, Femi Kuti, turned 60, and he was celebrated by family and friends far and wide.
One of the posts that caught attention was made by Funke Kuti, the mother of Femi’s son, Made.
While celebrating the singer, who is on a tour in the United States, she said he was getting old. “And just like that, you are 60! You are getting old,” she wrote in pidgin. “Thank you for all you do. You are such an amazing man and father. Thank you for loving our son unconditionally. May God continue to bless and favour you now and always.”
Before the one-time lovers went their separate ways in 2011, Funke was a popular face and dancer. Despite their separation, however, they still maintain a cordial relationship. Made is the only child of their marriage.
