The second phase of the Prudent Energy Premier Handball League will commence today at the University of Lagos Indoor Sports Hall as Kano Pillars and Safety Babes defend their lead.
The year’s championship, which commenced with its first phase at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is also a celebration of the 50th year of the best of Handball in the country.
According to the fixtures by the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Kano Pillars will play their first game against Kada Stars, while Niger United will square up against Police Machine, as Confluence Stars tackle Benue Buffaloes, Safety Shooters take on Owena Kings and Rima Strikers face D: Defenders in the male class.
In the women’s category, Rima Queens have a duel against Kwara Adorable Angels, while league leaders, Safety Babes will meet Kada Queens, as Bendel Dynamos challenge Benue Queens for points on the first day of the championship.
Other teams registered for the female category of the Prudent Energy Handball include, Safety Babes (Road Safety), Bendel Dynamos of Benin City, Benue Queens of Makurdi, Defender Babes (Civil Defence) and Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri.
Others are Kada Queens of Kaduna; Kwara Adorable Angels of Ilorin; Plateau Peacocks of Jos; Rima Queens of Sokoto and Seasider Babes of Lagos.
Meanwhile, Pillars will continue their lead as they tackle Benue Buffaloes of Makurdi, Confluence Stars of Lokoja, D: Defenders (Civil Defence), Kada Stars of Kaduna, Kano Pillars of Kano, Niger United of Minna and Owena Kings of Akure for the title.
As Police Machine (Nigeria Police), Rima Strikers of Sokoto, Safety Shooters (Road Safety); Seasiders of Lagos and Tojemarine Academy of Lagos complete the list of other teams in the class.
