Expert trains youths for coal industry

An oil and gas expert, Dr Livinus Nosike, has called for more involvement of youths in the use of coal for petroleum and power generation to raise the internal revenue base of Enugu State.

Nosike spoke at the 6th Enugu Youth Summit tagged Innovative Technology & Youth Entrepreneurship Summit organised by the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu, Dr Emeka Asogwa and the State Ministry of Youths and Sports.

The Enugu-born doctor of Petroleum Geology indicated willingness to train 180 youths on coal extraction in partnership with Integrated Elvee Services (IES) Ltd, a firm he runs to give back to the society.

Nosike said: “Coal is a huge goldmine; tons of unconventional hydrocarbon lies underneath our feet in Enugu State. It is the next mineral resource that can pay us more than petroleum in the State.

“Unfortunately our Nigerian Universities are not practical about the trainings hence we want to empower youths of the coal-rich Enugu”.  He lamented graduates of petroleum-related courses in the country have little knowledge of the industry.
