The traditional rulers and indigenes of Eyin-Osa in Lagos State have appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu and the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi to wade into land tussle in the community.

The residents disclosed this during a press briefing to protest a wrong accusation against some senior police officers and Chief Executive Officer of Topaz Gardens Limited, Murphy Adebare, by some individuals, who claimed to have possessed Certificate of Occupancy on some landed property in the community.

The community leaders exonerated the police officers, saying they contacted Topaz Gardens CEO to help them recover their land from those that have hijacked this from them.

According to Baale Pakiti Oloko, Iberu Wasiu, Topaz is not a land grabber; he is only trying to rescue the community from the hands of land grabbers that have taken over the land.

“We are not fighting with the government, we are in line with what the government wants and we want to beg them to help us get back our land. This is why we handed it over to Topaz Gardens. I want to appeal to the Lagos State Government Governor and CP Abiodun Alabi to intervene in this case to help us recover our land. We own our land and that is where we are ruling. We are the ones that handed over the contract to Topaz Gardens to help us plead with the government.”

Head of the Mogaji family in Eyin-Osa, Semiu Olaiya Ayanda, also confirmed that their land was invaded by some powerful land grabbers who had the backing of some traditional rulers.

According to him, efforts were made to resolve the matter by taking the case to the senior traditional rulers within the community but nothing tangible came out of it and they had to engage Topaz Gardens.
