The police on Thursday charged three men with obtaining N26,000 from a woman by pretending to be pastors of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) and using magic on her.
The defendants, Ekpo Michael (55), Charles Michael (54) and Napoleon Ohaegbu (52), whose addresses were not given, were arraigned before Mr. P. A. Adekomaya of an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
They are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing preferred against them by the police.
Prosecuting Sergeant, Kingsley Jackson, said the defendants conspired to commit the alleged offences on July 19.
He said the incident took place at about 2:00pm at Ikate in Lekki Phase 1, Eti-Osa local government area of Lagos.
Jackson alleged that the defendants presented themselves to one Chioma Okorie as pastors of RCCG and tricked her into parting with N26,000.
