A family, Beku Onimaba, which claims ownership of Igando town in Alimosho council of Lagos State, has stated in a petition to the police that one Alhaji Seidu Jimoh is not a member of the family.
The petition written by the family lawyer F.O. Animashaun Esq, was signed by Alhaji Ganiyu Alani Ige (Head), Alhaji Remilekun Shodeke, Mr.Ganiyu Olusegun Muri-Oloshunde and Mr. Lawal Ige, described as principal members and representatives of the family.
In the petition, dated May 26, 2022, was submitted to the Area Commander, Area M Police Command, copies of which sent to the state Commissioner of Police and the Divisional Police Officer, Igando Division.
The land is reckoned to be over 2000 acres.
It was alleged in the letter that Alhaji Jimoh is an impostor, and that he should desist from claiming to be a member of the Beku Onimaba lineage.
The letter, also delivered to Alhaji Jimoh, read in part: “Our clients informed us that you are a resident of Ijanikin area of Lagos State but parade and hold yourself out to third parties as a principal member of the Beku Onimaba Family, thereby causing disaffection and confusion in Igando Town.”
The family said the four persons who signed the petition are the “head and principal members of the Beku Onimaba, accredited representatives and the only persons authorised by law to act on behalf of the entire family in any capacity.”
It was equally claimed that Alhaji Jimoh in previous legal proceedings declared that he was “not a member of the Beku Onimaba Family,” and that the Beku Onimaba also “denounced [his] fake membership of their family, in suit number ID/1471/2004 between Western Progressive Club V. Alh. Mustapha Dada & 3 ORS, wherein you were the 2nd Defendant”.
The Beku Onimaba Family warned Alhaji Jimoh to desist from “usurping the good identity and image of the Beku Onimaba, and also stop “parading himself as a member of the Beku Onimaba, failure which will warrant a legal action against him”.
When contacted, Seidu Jimoh debunked the claims in the petition, stressing that he remains a bona fide member of the Beku Onimaba family, adding that his lawyer has responded to the petition accordingly.
