Farmer beheaded over land dispute in Delta

A 38-year-old  farmer  has been beheaded following a land dispute between two communities, Amai and Umuebu, in Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State.

It was learnt that the deceased was riding on his motorcycle on his way from his farm where he had gone to uproot cassava when he was attacked by suspected armed youths along Amai/Umuebu road.

A source said the assailants opened fire on the farmer as he was on top of his motorcycle.

Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka,  confirmed the killing.

He noted that the communities had been involved in a land dispute, and that the incident occurred at about 1pm on Monday.

He said the governor and Commissioner of Police have intervened and that they are meeting with the parties

He said they thought that the killers were ritualists because the head, the left feet and left hand of the deceased are missing.
