Father of 8-yr-old girl defiled by school principal laments delayed justice

Father of an eight-year-old girl allegedly defiled by her school principal, has condemned continued adjournment of the case by the Agbo Malu Court sitting in Ajegunle, Lagos.

Mr Donald Awaeje said continuous appearance of her daughter in court was affecting her recovery process.

According to him, the case on the incident which occurred in September had been adjourned twice without a sitting.

The new adjournment date is February 15.

He said: “I want justice. I don’t want this matter to linger in her brain as a baby.

“Every month, we are going to court. I want the matter to be done with so that it will leave her memory instead of reminding her of what has happened.

“I also will like to take it up with the proprietress of the school because no apology has come from her since then.

“No sign of her at all; as if she’s not alive.”

The Basic 4 pupil of the school located in Iba Local Government Area, Lagos State was allegedly defiled by the school’s principal, who is in his mid-30s, in the proprietress’ office.

The accused principal (name withheld) was said to be residing in the school premises with his family at the time of the incident.

He was said to have confessed to the crime after he was tortured by some soldiers.

The raped pupil was said to have suffered severe tear and profuse bleeding requiring serious efforts to heal.

Awaeje said the errant principal was released on bail after arrest.

Reliving the incident, he said: “She is in Basic 4, and that is the school I registered her from birth.

“And then I came back from work to understand that the boy defiled her.

“I met her at home in a pool of blood.

“Instead of the mother taking action, they waited for me to come from work.

“So, the following morning, the co-wives in the area marched down to the school.

“Before they got to the school, they went to a military checkpoint in the area to lay complaints.

“There they assigned a soldier and a police to go to the school.

“When the military got him, he confessed to them that he did it. They called the Iba Police and picked him up.”
