Fed Govt loses $1.25b to stranded 1,254.07Mw

Of the 107,107.29MWh that 24 power plants generated on 6th November, 2022, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wheeled 105,853.22MWh to the 11 electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos), leaving 1,254.07MW stranded, it was learnt yesterday.

The unused energy which was 1.17per cent was the negative impact that resulted in the loss of  $1.25billion in the 24 hours under review.

Recall that it costs over $1million to produce 1Mw of electricity.

According to the Nigerian System Operator (SO) of the TCN in its data titled: “24 he Grid Performance Dashboard 06/11/2022,” the peak generation was 4,735Mw while the off peak generation was 4,264MW.

Meanwhile, another document “List of GenCos and their MW Load @ 12:00hrs on  07/11/2022,” noted that 20 power plants produced 3,832.30Mw.

The document said Afam IV & V (Ga VI) produced 85Mw with two units,  Afam IV  (Gas Steam ) generated 0Mw with four units, Azura -Edo  IPP (Gas) produced 417Mw with three units.

With three units, said the SO,  Dandikowa GS (Hydro) produced  36.40MW, Delta  (Gas) generated 433Mw with nine, and Egbin  (Steam ) produced 327Mw with two units.

The SO said with one unit, Geregu NIPP  (Gas) produced 131Mw,  Ihovbor NIPP  (Gas) produced 103MW with one unit, Jebba  (Hydro) generated 382MW with four units,  Kainji (Hydro)  generated 353MW with four units  and with three units,  Odukpani NIPP  (Gas) produced 314Mw.

According to the data, Okpai (Gas/Steam) generated 261MW with three units, Olorunsogo NIPP (Gas) produced 101.60Mw with three units,  Olorunsogo NIPP  (Gas ) produced 109.20Mw,  Omoku  (Gas ) generated 73.10Mw with four units and with three units,  Omotosho  (Gas ) produced 92.50Mw while Omotosho NIPP  (Gas) generated 197.10Mw with two units.

As Paras Energy (Gas) generated 48.40Mw with seven units, Rivers IPP  (Gas ) produced 155Mw with one unit and with four units, Trans-Amadi (Gas) produced 70Mw with four units,  said the SO.

In another document: “Distribution Load Profile Profile Data as at 07/11/2022 15:29,” the SO said it allocated 3,842Mw to the 11 DisCos.

It added that as it allocated 522MW to Abuja DisCo, Benin DisCo got 318MW and 464Mw was sent to Eko DisCo.

The Document said Enugu DisCo received 371Mw, Ibadan DisCo got 469Mw,  and Ikeja DisCo got 549MW.

The data noted that Jos DisCos got 223MW, Kaduna DisCo got 260MW,  Kano DisCo 275MW, Port Harcourt DisCo got 280Mw and Yola Disco 111Mw.
