The Federal Government has presented certificates to 26 out of the 44 local government areas of Kano State declared Open Defecation Free (ODF).
Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Joseph Terlumun Utsev, presented the certificates at the Coronation Hall of Government House Kano, during a courtesy call to the governor.
Prof. Utsev, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, said in the current ranking, Kano has secured a space among the top-performing states in the country.

“On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, I extend our deep appreciation to Your Excellency for the unwavering support and commitment to water, sanitation and hygiene improvements in Kano State.
“Our gathering today is taking place on the heels of the North-West Zonal Review Meeting of the Clean Nigeria: Use the Toilet Campaign, which Kano State is graciously hosting.
“Your Excellency’s leadership and commitment to achieving the national sanitation goals explain why we are doing more of a celebration than advocacy at this occasion.
