Fidau: Late Reps’ deputy chief whip Onanuga was remarkable leader – Abiodun

Governor Dapo Abiodun has described late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, “Ijaya” as a remarkable leader, a steadfast advocate for her people, and an unwavering voice for justice and equity.

Abiodun who made this known in his Tribute at the Fidau Prayer for the late lawmaker added that in her years of public service, she exemplified dedication, strength, and an unshakable commitment to the progress of Ogun state and Nigeria at large.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele noted that as the member representing the Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, she was a shining light for effective representation, who demonstrated diligence and courage in advancing policies that uplifted not just her constituents, but the whole country.

Abiodun opined that the passing of Onanuga was a painful reminder of the fleeting nature of life, stressing that we should take solace in the knowledge that she lived with purpose and left an indelible mark on governance, leadership, and humanity, saying her many contributions will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.

The governor then prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest, and provide comfort for her family, friends, and all who mourn her loss.

In her message, Salako-Oyedele described Onanuga as a very good friend, confidant, and sister who she will sorely miss.

She said: “Ijaya” was almost larger than life with her characteristic laughter, warmth, goodwill, and kindness which she unreservedly extended to everyone without recluse to social status or standing.”
