The boys have been separated from the men as the finalists have emerged in the 14th Doregos Inter-School Basketball Championships.
For the first time, Avicena College will be aiming to defend the title they won last year as the boys and girls teams of the Ikeja-based school will be gunning for the title having made it to the finals.
Avicenna teams secured their places in the final after ending the fairytale of debutant- Phidel College.
The Avicena team took Phidel to the cleaner in the girls’ semifinal with a 31-1 bashing while in the second semifinal match, Corona School edged out Dansol College 12-2 to set up a final clash with Avicena.
Just like what their girls’ team did, the Avicena boys’ team bundled out Command Secondary School 28- 24 in a match that produced some sharing moment, Airforce college for the third consecutive time will be playing in the final of the tournament after defeating Efforts Will of Ejigbo 39-30.
The final of the tournament is stated for February 2018 and the winner of the male and female will qualify for the finals of the regional championship in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
