Firm opens training centre

German-owned building design company, Knauf, has launched a training centre to offer skills to architects, civil engineers and artisans on building processes.

The training centre is said to offer about 800 training positions per year, while aiming to graduate about 12,000 trainees within three years.

Regional Manager (Western and Southern Africa) Vincent Allard said the centre will enable trainees acquire knowledge on how different gypsum-based building materials are processed.

Allard reiterated that sustainability at Knauf is practical in reality, and anchored in the company culture and values. He added that the firm complies with the highest standards in environmental compatibility, sustainable building use and safety.

“Knauf relies on the raw material, gypsum, which is sustainable by nature. This means taking on responsibility for customers, employees, and protection of the environment,” he said.

The centre was opened by the Consul-General of Germany in Lagos, Dr. Alexander Schütz.
