Five injured in multiple crash

Five persons, including a soldier, were yesterday injured in a multiple accident at Fadeyi Bus Stop in Lagos.

The accident involved a trailer, a cigarette truck, a Mazam bus and a car.

The accident, it was learnt, happened while a Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) truck was making a U-turn at Fadeyi. The trailer climbed the silver car, hit the bus and the cigarette truck.

An eyewitness, Mr Olusegun, told The Nation that the LAWMA truck caused the accident.

He said the trailer rammed into the car, the bus and the cigarette truck, while its driver was trying to avoid the LAWMA truck.

He added that the silver car was crushed.

“The soldier’s car was removed from under the trailer. He was seen sitting with his head placed on the wheel as if he was dead. But, to everyone’s surprise, the man came down from the car when the door was forced open,” he said.

Another eye witness, Mr Taiwo Olaniju, described the accident as a mystery.

“I am still surprised that the Army official whose car was under the trailer survived the accident,” he said.

The LAWMA truck driver said he made a u-turn on the road because he noticed that the trailer had a brake failure and was heading towards him.
