Five schools – Olashore International School, Osun State, Atlantic Hall, Epe; Corona Secondary School; Day Waterman College, Sagamu, Ogun State, and Grange School Ikeja – shone at the Association of International Schools Educators in Nigeria (AISEN) 10th anniversary athletics festival.

Representing Olashore International School was Ibanga Peter, who won a gold medal, in the 200m race, Chukwuma Nnaemeka (discuss) and Effiong Mminika (long jump).

Atlanti Hall was represented by Nnaechukwu Anaengwa (high jump), Corona Schools presented Erioluwa Olorunsola. Eniola Ikuku represented Day Waterman College in Long Jump (long jump), while Somkene Madichie represented Grange School in shot put.

The fiesta, which was hosted by Olashore School is a yearly event which forms part of the activities marking AISEN’s decade anniversary.

President of the association, Ekuah Abudu, said the event aims to encourage the spirit of sportsmanship, high quality students and teach discipline.

She said: “It was also a means of fulfilling the association’s mission of fostering understanding, cooperation and mutual support among international schools within Nigeria.”

The Principal of the host school and member of the association’s board, Mr. Derek Smith, said: “It is a great way for the students to interact with students of other schools on a large scale and spend time together, share and exchange ideas and support each other while still demonstrating their sporting skills.”

AISEN Sports Coordinator, William Pope, said though the association has over 60 member-schools, it started with four.
