Edo State Government yesterday said it has completed renovation of 18 schools recently ravaged by flood in three local government areas of the state, pegging the total number of completed renovated schools across the state last year by State Universal Basic Education Board[SUBEB] at 15, excluding the on-going ones
Chairman, Edo State Universal Basic Education Board[SUBEB], Joseph Emoabino, who disclosed this, said no fewer than twenty-five [25] schools have been pencilled down for renovation across the three senatorial districts of the state this year
Emoabino told newsmen in Benin City while officially flagging off the distribution of UBEC/FGN textbooks to public primary and junior secondary schools, said the large number of schools projected for reconstruction by the state government is targeted at a holistic approach to develop the educational sector in the state
He said arrangement has equally been put in place to employ the services of men of the state security agents so as to ensure the books procured by the federal government in collaboration with UBEC, 2012 initiative, aimed at enhancing affective teaching and learning delivering in schools get to the pupils
The board chairman, also noted that the state government has perfected plan to recruit ex-service men to provide security to the renovated schools, adding that the recent monitoring of schools and projects embarked upon by the Comrade Governor and members of the board respectively has not only impacted positively on supervision and teachers’ attitude, but has equally aided the process of educational delivery in the state
