Vee69’s CEO Florence Achado has emerged winner of the Advertising Week Africa Future is Female Award, the first on the continent.
The global award shortlisted 25 among the scores of women nominated or entered for the award from across Africa last year.
Achado shone forth in the galaxy of female advertising professionals selected based on proven achievements, demonstrated ability to effect change in organizations, commitment to external impact, ability to mentor others, and professional endorsement.
Global President of Advertising Week Ruth Mortimer announced Achado and other nine nominees’ adjudged winners of the continental award at an exclusive award night in Johannesburg, South Africa, last week.
The Future is Female is more than the winners,” says Mortimer. It’s a community we promote and nurture.”
Achado has always believed in the industry’s major strength—diversity—which empowers female practitioners to maximize their potential.
“The conservative, conventional, societal mores that place limitations on women have never been anything I agree with,” she says in her response to the award on social media.
Women, thankfully, are filling gaps in a variety of sectors now, which is fantastic.”
A graduate of marketing and advertising from Coventry, in the U.K., Achado started Vee69 in Nigeria at the onset of the internet disruption, and has powered on since then.
“At Vee69, we live with a purpose, and that purpose lights our paths,” she says.
In a post about the occasion, Ruth Mortimer, president of Advertising Week worldwide, remarked to the winners, “you’re all so inspiring”
