- Trailer crushes mother, son to death in Ondo
Four persons were yesterday killed and 10 others injured during an accident along the Gumel-Kano Road in Jigawa State.
Spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, in the state, Ibrahim Gambo, confirmed the accident in a Road Traffic Report (RTC) released yesterday.
He said the accident, which occurred at about 12:25am, involved a bus that collided with another vehicle at Achauya village in Gumel Local Government Area of the state.
“A commercial bus (Sharon) with registration number GML260XX carrying passengers was involved in a collision with a truck with registration number GUS 648XA coming from the opposite direction.
“It could be attributed to speed violation and loss of control, 14 persons, consisting of 11 males and three females were involved in the crash,” he said.

He said that four male passengers were certified dead by a medical doctor at a hospital in the area while seven males and three females were receiving treatment.
In Ondo State, a woman and her seven-year-old son were crushed to death by a trailer along the Akure-Owo highway. The deceased were on a motorcycle whose rider sustained serious injuries.
A statement by the Ondo State Sector Command said the accident occurred by the Federal Government Girls College, Akure.
It attributed the cause of the accident to over speeding, which resulted to loss of control by the trailer driver as the road was wet and dangerous.
It said the dead were taken to the State Specialist Hospital, Akure morgue.
