Four gunmen killed in Kaduna, Anambra shootout

Operatives of Kaduna State Police Command have killed two bandits during a gun battle in Timburku village Galadimawa ward in Giwa Local  Government  Area of the state, where they abducted some persons.

Police recovered one AK47 rifle and a motorcycle, it was learnt.

Police spokesman DSP  Muhammad Jalige confirmed the incident in a  statement yesterday.

The statement said, “The Commissioner of Police Yekini Ayoku, immediately directed the mobilisation of the nearby detachment of Police Operation Restore Peace (hitherto codenamed as Operation Puff Adder II) to the area.

“In the hot engagement that ensued with the armed hoodlums, the professional team of policemen prevailed with their superior firepower, leading to the neutralisation of two of the bandits, recovery of one AK47 rifle, one motorcycle and a machete while the victims were rescued unhurt.”

Police in Anambra also killed two gunmen in different operations at Okija in Ihiala council of the state.

Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement yesterday that four automatic pump action guns, four vehicles, four motorcycles, and other items were recovered from the suspects.

He however said accomplices of the deceased escaped.
