Four killed in Plateau village clash

At least four people have been killed in a clash involving Berom, Fulani and soldiers working with the Plateau State special task force.

Three soldiers were reportedly injured and eight residents declared missing in the clash which occurred at Foron village in Barkin Ladi local government of Plateau State.

The acting national Chairman of Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Samson Tsok, said “one Berom village, Foron was attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani last Tuesday night. Two of our boys were killed in the attack and four people are still missing.

“Early Wednesday morning, some soldiers of the special task force (STF) stormed the village with 13 Hilux van and three armored vehicles. They came without notice, we were embarrassed and felt we were under siege.

“The soldiers came to ransack our village without informing our community leaders about the search operation. We didn’t even know what they are searching for they came in company of some Fulani people who were pointing at the houses to raid. They entered house and started searching everywhere.

“The soldiers also looted houses and destroyed properties. At the end of the search operation which lasted between 6:00am and 12:00noon, we counted 70 houses they destroyed under the guise of searching.
