Police in Benue State have killed four suspected bandits in Ukum council of the state.
Weapons recovered from them included one Ak47 rifle, a G3 rifle, a locally-made pistol and assorted ammunition as well as charms.
Briefing newsmen at Command headquarters in Makurdi, Commissioner of police Wale Abass said the bandits were killed by his men during an operation.
CP Abbass said the bandits were ambushed and killed while on their way to attack a village called Gbagire in Ukum council.
He said the operation was successful because all their calls were tracked and carefully monitored by the intelligence unit.
Governor Samuel Ortom commended the police, Inspector-General and the police commissioner in the state command for their effort.
CP Abbas pledged that the command would do everything possible to keep the state safe.
The bodies of the four bandits were displayed at the Police command headquarters in Makurdi.
Recovered weapons and charms were also seen beside their bodies.
