Fund stalls 3SC’s resumption

Players and officials of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan may not resume as expected today until next week due to financial constrain, SportingLife has learnt.

It is understood that Oluyole Warriors were supposed to resume camping for the next season on Tuesday but shifted till today.

But SportingLife’s scoop at the 3SC camp in Ibadan on Thursday evening revealed that today’s resumption is not realistic.

A top source told SportingLife that the Oyo State Government has reduced October subvention released to the club by 45% which could make things difficult for the club.

SportingLife reports that the club is still owing players October, November and December salaries.

“The club may not resume until next week because we are yet to access the funds. We received our salaries as expected till September but we are surprised that the Government reduced our subvention when they released October fund.

“The money release is not enough to offset the bills and we are in a state of dilemma now. So we have to get the balance before anything meaningful should be done,” a source disclosed to SportingLife.

“The players are willing to resume but we have not sent anything to them even their salaries! What we are expecting before was increment in subvention but what we have now is reduction. Now that we have reduction in October salary the fear is that it may continue like that.”

It was rumoured that the club’s General Manager Rasheed Balogun is ready to quit the club.

The GM reported at the office on Thursday and said he is not dumping 3SC but the paucity of fund seems to be affecting their plans.
