Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Fasina, and the Governing Council have backed the Ekiti-born chef and student of the university, Damilola Adeparusi, on her cooking marathon, which began on June 9 at Ilupeju Ekiti.

Adeparusi, a student of Mass Communication, aims to set a cooking record of 120 hours.

She has surpassed Hilda Baci’s 100-hour cook-a-thon record at a prepared residence in Oye Local Government.

Fasina, who visited the chef with council members, hailed her endeavour.

He said: “Congratulations. l am so excited because one of our students has made us proud. I heard about it three days ago and I was so amazed.

“The council and management is here to support you to hit that target of a 120-hour cooking.

“As it is now, you are being put on the world map, cooking for 120 hours. And I am glad you set the record straight on your social media handles that the cook-a-thon is not in competition with anybody but a desire orchestrated by the Spirit World Global Mission, a church she is affiliated with.

“I am equally excited you have put into practice what you have learnt as a student of Mass Communication. I want you to keep it up. We are praying for you so you reach your 120-hour target.”

Other members of the Vice-Chancellor’s delegation were Council members Sabo Inuwa and Alkali Kolo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Prof O.S. Shittu; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof B.T. Opoola and Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim.

Dammy, as she is called by friends, has drawn global attention since she started the cooking endeavour. She is also a songwriter and poet.
