The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, is set to visit Anambra State on Thursday, December 12, as part of activities leading up to the November 8, 2025, governorship election in the state.
During his visit, Ganduje will inaugurate the newly procured APC State Secretariat located opposite the Government House in Awka.
He is also scheduled to meet with prominent figures, including the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Achebe.
The meeting comes amidst lingering tensions between the Obi of Onitsha and the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Their strained relationship stems from Soludo’s dissolution of the state’s Traditional Rulers Council, previously chaired by Achebe.
Achebe has been vocal in criticizing Soludo’s handling of insecurity and alleged disregard for traditional institutions in Anambra.

The fallout between the two reportedly led to Soludo’s absence from the 2024 Ofala Festival, a significant cultural event for the Onitsha monarch.
The new APC state secretariat was reportedly acquired by Sir Paul Chukwuma, one of the frontrunners for the party’s governorship ticket.
The announcement of Ganduje’s visit was signed by the APC State Chairman, Sir Basil Ejidike, and Secretary, Chico Obi, confirming it as a one-day event.
Despite internal dissatisfaction among some APC stakeholders over the federal government’s appointment of members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) into key positions, core APC members have pledged to intensify efforts to strengthen the party in the state.
