Gbaramatu king confers chieftaincy titles on Johnny, nine others

The Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, on Saturday, conferred chieftaincy titles on Chief Michael Johnny and nine others.

The chieftaincy conferment was part of activities marking the monarch’s 7th coronation anniversary and grand finale of the 2023 Amaseikumor Festival holding at Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri Southwest Council Area of Delta State.

Johnny who was installed as the Agadewei of Gbaramatu, is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and among the few indigenes seen to have done well within and beyond the kingdom.

In a swift move, the 2023 APC House of Representatives candidate for Bomadi and Patani Federal Constituency,  Hon. Tamarankro Obriki has congratulated Chief Johnny on the chieftaincy title.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Warri, Obriki said the chieftaincy title conferred on Johnny was deserving, describing him (Johnny) as a selfless individual.

According to the statement:  “High Chief Michael Johnny has contributed immensely to the struggle for a better Ijawland and Niger Delta. He is also a foundational leader of our great party, APC in Delta State.

“Chief Micheal Johnny worked assiduously for the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect; also Mr. Joel Onowakpo Thomas, Senator-elect and our leader, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in the just concluded gubernatorial elections.”

Further commending Johnny for working for other APC candidates within and outside his constituency, Obriki stated, “I am a beneficiary of Johnny’s large heart and benevolent gesture.

“On behalf of my teaming supporters, family and well- wishers, I want to say congratulations to the brand new ‘Agadiwei’ of Gbaramatu Kingdom. I know you will use this new responsibility to bring development to Gbaramatu kingdom”.
