‘Girl child can be what she wants to be’

Chairman of Lagos State branch of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Adekunle Bello, has urged girls around the world to be focused to excel in life.

Bello spoke during an occasion to mark International Day of Girl-Child at Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos.

With the theme: Our Time is Now, Our Right, Our Future, he urged girls not to be intimidated by men, saying the time had come for women to claim their positions in the nation. Vice Chairman, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, the pupils to be world changer, saying; “we are here to let them know, they have right to education, enterpreneurship and if they have any challenge, we could assist them…”

Kesha said their mindset should change from being housewives, adding God blessed women more than  men.

“It’s time women tapped into their God-given talent so they can excel in life and stand with their male counterparts.

“If you look at the setting at home, women can multi-task. Women are wired to cope with life challenges …” she said.

The Headteacher, Mrs Oluyinka Soyoye, said gone were the days when female children were relegated.
