It was glitz and glamour as Dr Shade Okoya, wife of foremost billionaire industrialist, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, the Aare of Lagos and Chairman of Eleganza Group of Companies, alongside her husband organised an opulent and emotionally stirring event in celebration of her mother, Alhaja Nimota Shittu Adeleye Afolashade’s 80th birthday.
Hosted at Chief Okoya’s Oluwanisola Estate, Lekki, Lagos, the celebration attracted not only close family members, but also personalities from diverse fields, who came to celebrate the exceptional life and enduring legacy of the honoured matriarch amid pomp and ceremony.
The Okoya family has always been known for their grand events and this was not in any way disappointing as usual. It was a display of glamour, exuding their signature elegance and grace. From the exquisite floral arrangements to the luxurious setting, every aspect of this celebration radiated sophistication as it paid tribute to its distinguished guest.
Shade Okoya is renowned for her exceptional business skills and dedication to charitable causes. She went all-out in planning a gathering that matched her cherished mother’s milestone birthday as she spared no expense. The occasion served as evidence of the unwavering adoration and appreciation Shade has towards her mum, given how elaborate it was with every detail designed to commemorate this crucial event in Mama’s life.

Other personalities in attendance include; Elegushi of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi, former Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice George Oguntade, Chairman of Lagos Internal Revenue Service(LIRS), Ayodele Subair, Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Lagos, Cornelius Ojelade and Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, among others.
The atmosphere was filled with joviality and affectionate greetings among all.
At the birthday banquet, guests were treated to a delectable spread of international and local cuisine that perfectly represented culinary excellence. The feast complemented the festive atmosphere, providing an indulgent experience for all present. In addition to this gastronomic delight was live entertainment from a band which kept everyone captivated throughout the celebration while infusing joy and festivity into every moment for distinguished attendees.
The highlight of the night was when the celebrant, Alhaja Adeleye, along with her children, grandchildren, friends and other well-wishers danced round the high table with happiness and joy radiating on their faces.
Another highlight was when music crooners; Musiliu Haruna Ishola, Sir Shina Peters, Abeni Salawa and Adeyinka Alaseyori took over the stage individually and added to the celebratory mood, captivating the distinguished guests and infusing the air with an infectious sense of joy and festivity.
