Group counsels APC leaders on Ondo guber election

Ahead of next year governorship election in Ondo State, a socio-political group, Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership (MGGEL) has urged the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to ensure that its candidate emerges through an acceptable democratic process.

The Director General of the group, Asiwaju Kehinde Bello said free, fair and credible primary elections must be conducted to determine the party’s candidate to avoid repeating the mistake of 2012.

Asiwaju Bello spoke at the ‎sixth anniversary of the Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership (MGGEL) held in Owo.

He stressed that conducting a credible primary is the only antidote to peaceful cohesion among aspirants that will eventually make the work of the general election easier.

According to him, gubernatorial aspirants must show case their programmes and avoid campaign of calumny and sentiments.

The MGGEL boss maintained that the APC candidate in the 2016 election must be generally acceptable by all and sundry and emerged through a process seen by stakeholders as genuine internal democracy.

He urged the people of the sunshine state to see coming election as a collective responsibility to liberate the state from the hands of rudderless leadership.

The guest lecturer at the occasion, Dr. Theo Adebowale who emphasized the need for change in the state, urged social political organizations to tame spoiler among the aspirants.

He said it is the duty of socio political organizations to identify spoilers among the aspirants and mount pressure on them to back down.
