A group known as the South South Youth Alliance Movement has lauded the leadership of the All Progressive Congress and the National Working Committee of the Party for endorsing Senator Godswill Akpabio for Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.
Convener of the group, Richard Romanus, in a statement in Abuja said this showed utmost respect to the yearnings and aspirations of a vast majority of the people and party faithfuls.
Romanus said the unanimous and overwhelming endorsement of Senator Akpabio by the leadership of the party has further underscored the point that it is indeed the season of Renewed Hope for both the Party and the good citizens of Nigeria.
“We are particularly grateful to the President-elect, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for this act of kindness and magnanimity towards the people of the South-South geopolitical zone.
“His acceptance of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President-designate, has further buttress the depth of love and commitment for the people of the South South geopolitical zone. Beyond this act of generosity, the endorsement of Senator Godswill Akpabio reflects the Party’s readiness to deploy only round pegs into round holes in the pursuit of good governance for the people of Nigeria.
“We salute the dexterity of the NWC in midwifing a seamless process for the party, and call on all elected members of the National Assembly, to in the interest of peace and unity, support the decision of the Party by voting for Senator Godswill Akpabio and other designates for the leadership of the 10th Assembly.
“While we congratulate our leader, father, brother and the uncommon transformer of the Niger Delta region, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on the meritorious endorsement he has received from the leadership of the Party, we enjoin him to continue to work synergistically with His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in delivering the dividends of democracy and the renewed hope agenda for the good of Nigerians,” Romanus said.
