A political leader in the Southsouth, Sele Okine, has urged Nigerians to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of next year’s general election.
It said Nigerians must actively participate in choosing the right successor to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Okine, who launched a movement known as the Bola Tinubu Must Lead, said the country must get its leadership choice right.
He said his group was mobilising support for the presidential aspiration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu because he has demonstrated strong leadership skills and democratic credentials over the years.
Okine said the move was part of efforts to usher in a government that would transform the country’s infrastructure, create wealth and lift millions out of poverty, thereby reducing crime.
“We believe Tinubu is capable of providing such leadership as proved during his time as governor of Lagos State and as a political leader. We are optimistic of Bola Tinubu’s victory at the polls,” he said.
Okine said the movement has embarked on an enlightenment campaign to get those yet to register for their PVCs to do so and obtain them.
“We should elect those who have experience in grassroots development and can provide transformative leadership. Youths are solidly behind Asiwaju,” he said in a statement.
