Groups in Atiku’s voting base strategise for Feb 27

A coalition of support groups in Jimeta, the political home base of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has met to dedicate support for him.

The groups, at a meeting in Yola on Monday, also expressed their resolve to galvanize support for the PDP state governorship candidate, Ahmadu Fintiri.

The groups, said to number over 60 and galvanized by Secretary to the Adamawa State Government (SSG), Ahmed Bashir, said Atiku who makes Jimeta his political home front and has a history of performance in public offices, deserves their support; and that Governor Fintiri who has been a resourceful governor needs to be supported for a second term.

Atiku hails from Jada, a town and local government area north of Yola, but chose Jimeta, in Yola North LGA, as his political home where he usually casts his vote.

Malam Ahmad, who hails from Jimeta and has a resolve to enhance the success of Atiku and Fintiri in the February 27 and March 11 elections, was in the vanguard when the support groups met at the Lelewal Hotel in Jimeta under what the coalition tagged ‘Jimeta Open Circle’.

Speaking during the event, Ahmad Bashir said he was elated that Jimeta people decided in their own to support Governor Fintiri for a second term.

He added: “I come from the same ward with His Excellency, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa. He is from Jimeta. He always play his politics from here and we have always supported him. Yes, he is also endorsed by his own immediate community because nobody can love him better than us.”

The convener of the event Dr Suleiman Hamman, said the programme was organised to highlight the achievements of both Atiku and Fintiri and to seek support for them.
