The reign of violence in Rivers State continued on Thursday when unidentified gunmen kidnapped one Miss Amarachi Okereke at Rumuji community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, who is a teacher at Uvawuhu Comprehensive High School Ibaa, was abducted by the gunmen at her home in Rumuji community.
A source, Mr. Anthony said the 25-year-old victim recently relocated to Rumuji from Ibaa because of cult related issues in the area.
Anthony disclosed that the young lady was kidnapped at gunpoint inside her apartment at Rumuji and whisked to an unknown destination.
He added that her abductors were yet to establish contact with anybody and called on the security agencies to help rescue the victim.
In a related development, gunmen on Thursday kidnapped a yet to be identified person at Aka junction in Rumuolumeni community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the yet-to-be-identified man was kidnapped on his way to work, early Thursday and taken to a nearby river, leaving his car behind.
An eye witness who spoke to our correspondent said the kidnappers stormed the Aka junction shooting sporadically at passer-bys before taking their target.
It was learnt that the police in the area later arrived the scene to remove the victim’s car from the scene.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni said he was not aware of the developments.
“I am not aware yet,” he said.
