Gunmen in army uniform have abducted three children in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

It was said that the assailants, on Wednesday last week, attacked the residence of one Lukman Aliyu, a businessman, in the Alagbado area of the capital city.

The incident caused panic as people ran helter-skelter.

Aliyu’s three young boys were later discovered to have been kidnapped by the attackers.

The businessman said the gunmen came shortly after he put off the electricity generating set.

“They threatened to kill me and members of my family. We locked ourselves inside one room, five of us including my wife, but the hoodlums broke into the house and took away the children. It was dark as there was no public power supply,” he said.

Sources said vigilantes chased after the kidnappers and recovered one of the abducted boys.

It was also gathered that the attackers were yet to contact relations of the children to make any demand, while the children were yet to be found.

Police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident, saying that efforts were on to rescue the boys.
