Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted four travellers in Irele-Ekiti, Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti.
The Nation gathered the incident occurred around 11 am on Sunday when the travellers were waylaid between Irele -Ekiti and Oke-Ako by the arm-wielding attackers, numbering seven.
A source in the community said the four victims, who were heading to Ibadan, Oyo state capital after attending a function in Kogi State, were ambushed at a bad spot.
The source said ” The four persons kidnapped were coming from an event in Kogi and returning to Ibadan when they were attacked along the Irele-Ekiti and OkeAko road.

“We have not heard anything from the gunmen since yesterday (Sunday) and we are hoping they will get in touch with their families possibly for ransom.”
A community leader in Irele-Ekiti, Chief Kehinde Abejide, who confirmed the abduction, lamented the incessant attack by gunmen in the area, calling on the government to beef up security in the axis.
Abejide, who is the Akogun of Ikere-Ekiti, appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to impress on the military to provide an army outpost to safeguard the community and its environs against any aggression.
When contacted, the Amotekun corps commander, Brig. General Joe Komolafe who confirmed the incident said his men are combing the forest in the area with a view to rescuing the victims.
