Budding gospel artiste, Abiola Ibrahim, better known as Haybee Rock in music circles, is out with a new single titled Imela which means ‘Thank You’ in Igbo language. Produced by Dazzman, Haybee Rock discloses that the song is about gratitude.
“This song is a personal testimony of God’s unending faithfulness,” said Haybee Rock whose favourite genre of music is rock.
Born as a Muslim, she converted to Christianity and is now a born-again Christian. And it was from the choir she discovered her musical talents. She began singing professionally in 2010.
Some of her songs include Scream, Erupe Ile (Dust of the Earth), No One which has a reggae tinge to it, and No Shade of Grey, featuring Abiodun Arogunmaya.
“I believe as a Christian, our purpose in life is to reach out to people and let them be aware that God loves them,” said Haybee Rock who is also a Mass Communication student at the National Open University of Nigeria, in an interview.
“And we can’t all be preachers. Some people actually pass a message by acting. And because I know mine is the ability to sing and it has been there right from my childhood and the only way I can preach out this message is by singing,” she added.
