Herdsmen kill Ogun journalist’s father

Hoodlums suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed a farmer, Pa Omifenwa Atanda, on his farm at Ado-Odo in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The septuagenarian, who is the father of the state correspondent of Global News magazine, Jide Omifenwa, was said to have been attacked by herdsmen at 1:30 pm yesterday.

Omifenwa said his father went to the farm as usual.

“When we observed that he was yet to return, we went to the farm only to meet his body on the ground.

“I went to the police station and we were told to get a doctor to examine him.

“We got a doctor who confirmed him dead and discovered that he was hit with a big stick.

“Anytime the herdsmen storm the farms, their cattle destroy the produce. This is a big blow to my family,” he said.

According to him, three suspected herdsmen have been arrested by the police.
