Higginbotham: Stoke won’t miss Moses

Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham believes Victor Moses’ absence against Chelsea is a blessing in disguise to his team as they take on Chelsea today in the English Premier League.

Moses is on loan to Stoke City from Chelsea hence he isn’t eligible to face his parent owners going by the English Premirship rules, but Higginbotham while writing in his column for Stoke Sentinel, believes despite the 24-year-old Nigerian being one of their best players he won’t be entirely missed.

The former Crystal Palace player has been in fine form this season leading to reports his loan deal would be made a permanent deal in the summer provided a fee is agreed with Chelsea.

“Losing Victor Moses for the trip to Chelsea could actually be a blessing in disguise for Stoke, I know that seems an odd thing to be saying after Moses has done so well on loan at Stoke,” he wrote in his column.

“But the fact he can’t play against his parent club tomorrow means Mark Hughes has every excuse to pick a more defensively-minded wide man like Jon Walters.

“I just believe that when you play one of the bigger boys – and they don’t come any bigger than champions-elect Chelsea right now – you have to be prepared to give up something.”
