THOUGH quiet about his achievements, Julius Dediare Rone, Group Managing Director of Nigerian energy conglomerate UTM Offshore, has been recognised. The Gas King, as he’s fondly referred to, is set to be honoured by President Muhammadu Buhari, with the conferment of the National Honours in the rank of MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic) on October 11, 2022, in Abuja. One of his major achievements is the floating liquefied natural gas project. Unknown to many, Rone’s UTM Offshore is building Nigeria’s first and Africa’s first indigenous floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility – floating production storage and offloading unit that conducts liquefied natural gas operations for developing offshore natural gas resources – thereby spearheading the expansion of Nigeria’s gas market in line with the government’s Decade of Gas Initiative. According to those who should know, Rone has created innumerable employment opportunities and wealth through his entrepreneurial initiatives and excellence, which have significantly impacted the socioeconomic stability of Nigeria.
