How it happened, by FRSC

FRSC 423 die, 2,339 wounded in auto crashes in July – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday explained how the accident happened.

A statement by Head Media Relations and Strategy Bisi Kazeem, quoted Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi as explaining that the multiple crashes occurred on the outward bound of Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on the bridge before Kara Market by OPIC on Wednesday morning, at about 0200hrs, involving six vehicles and killing four persons.

He added that the whole stretch of the road witnessed gridlock as a result of the crash and that the unfortunate incident had nothing to do with the ongoing construction work on the stretch of Lagos-Ibadan expressway, but due to the negligence of the drivers.

According to him, it took the combined efforts of FRSC, LASTMA, LASEMA, Fire Service and NEMA about 15 hours to extinguish the inferno that ensued as a result of the crash and to remove the obstructions and debris before normal traffic was restored.
