THE producer of ‘Crime Fighter’, a television programme, Chief Aisha Tosan has debunked reports that she used the police to harass one Greg Odutayo, a neighbour at Dobys Haven, Lekki, Lagos.
She said: “I make bold to say that on November 28, I reported Mr Greg Odutayo to the police for stealing and unlawfully converting a 650 KVA generator, collectively owned by home owners in Dobys Heaven Estate in Lekki, Lagos. In the course of police investigation, the generator was found and being used in Odutayo’s private company, Royal Roots Communications. Instead of cooperating with the police in their investigation, he rushed to the press to concoct stories against me in order to divert attention from the investigation and ultimately pervert the cause of justice
“On the claim by Odutayo and his cohorts that I used the police to harass him over a frivolous petition, I wish to adopt the saying that facts are sacred and cannot be compromised. As I said in my petition to the police, it was agreed in a general meeting that the generator should be sold, however as the chairman of the estate management committee, I was not aware when it was sold at the ridiculously low price of N2 million. There was no bidding for and no offers from prospective buyers presented to the joint owners for consideration.
“The joint owners, or the executive committee members issued no receipt or letter of sale and authority to remove the generator to warrant Odutayo claim that he genuinely bought the said generator. Due process was not followed and the illegal sale was carried out secretly in a clandestine manner.”
