Music composer and bandleader, Segun Akinlolu aka Beautiful Nubia has expressed satisfaction after releasing a new album entitled, ‘Olumuyiwa’.

The 15-track album, which was released in memory of his mother, was recorded at Afrodisia Studio, a subsidiary of Decca West Africa (DWA), in Lagos.

Speaking on his recording experience at the studio, Nubia shared a picture of himself with his backup singers saying, “Olumuyiwa is a beautiful album. Yes, even those of us who made it think so! In this picture – taken inside Afrodisia Studio, Yaba, Lagos – I am with the three beautiful backing vocalists who sang on the album.”

The folklore singer and guitarist also said he could perceive the body odour of many artistes who have recorded in the studio.

“Afrodisia stinks – in a sweet, pleasant and arresting way. It smells of the sweat of the thousands of musicians who have created masterpieces there, many of them really great and legendary names.

“However, it is possible that I hold the distinguished honour of being the only person to have ever peed on the carpet at this studio as a child and then gone back there to record as an adult.”

“I have always liked the feel of the inside of that studio, especially in the days when my uncle Johnson Ademilokun ran things and created sound miracles despite the crumbling infrastructure around him. These days, Sunday Jolaoso, one of his accomplished trainees, holds sway as the sound engineer and it was he who recorded Olumuyiwa for us.”
