Hope brightens for Afe Babalola & Co players at the on-going Afe Babalola/ Ibadan Bar Football League tournament as the team thrashed the hard fighting players of Olujimi, Akeredolu 3-2 in the quarter final match played yesterday.
As it stands, Afe Babalola & Co , Bandele Aiku &Co , Lateef Fagbemi & Co, and Adebayo , Gbadamosi & Co have qualified for semi-finals in the tournament.
The victorious Afe Babalola & Co players , who came from 1-0 down in the first half of the match , proved their superiority over the Olujimi, Akeredolu & Co team in the second half of the tension soaked game to defeat their opponent with 3-2 .
Speaking after the game, the Coach of Afe Babalola & Co team, Mr Kelly Ogbe , who is the Deputy Head of Chambers, Afe Babalola & Co, described the victory as well deserving.
“We are all lawyers. The fact is that some teams are stronger than other teams . There are some teams that did not have time to prepare very well , the workload of lawyers is very high. At times , you find a situation where some teams don’t have time to prepare very well. And we are not young , we are adults to some extent, so there is bound to be some lapses in some teams unlike the others,” he said.
The tournament , which is the third edition of the competition organized in honour of a prominent legal luminary , Chief Afe Babalola SAN will end on Friday 9th December 2021.
The football competition is in partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) , Ibadan branch and will form part of the 2021 Law Week celebration of the Ibadan Bar
