The Aare of Ilaje kingdom in Ondo State, High Chief Olabode Thomas, who is also a prominent All Progressive Party (APC) chieftain, has hailed Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for tremendous works done and being a good listener as he appealed for suspension of king installation in Elereke.

Giving reasons in a virtual message to the newsmen, he noted that there is an ongoing land dispute between Etikan and Elereke and the king’s installation may trigger a crisis.

He said: “Recently we have been hearing rumours that our loving Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa is trying to present a staff of office to Elereke of Ereke which we feel the governor should suspend and investigate issues in the community.

“We have tried all means of reaching out to the governor by writing a letter. The governor is whom we love and hold in high esteem, so we call on him. We also plead with good people to intervene because there have been ongoing protests.”

Thomas also appealed to not only the Ondo State government but also major stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene.

“We are leveraging the media to also reach out to the governor and other stakeholders to look into this issue. We don’t want this to escalate. We are only pleading with the governor to suspend the kingship activities. Where they are occupying belongs to the Etikan community and in court. We know the governor listens, which is why we are reaching out to him through the media,” he said.
