‘I’ll review residency card policy’

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday said he will review the residency card policy (Kaadi Igbe Ayo) to ensure it no longer serves as a criterion to access government infrastructure.

Akeredolu said if elected, his administration will not destroy any existing good government policy.

The APC flagbearer spoke at Oba Ile in Akure North Local Government during his campaign tour to the area.

At the campaign were the senator representing Ondo Central, Tayo Alasoadura, member representing Akure North/ South Federal Constituency, Afe Olowokere, former lawmaker Ifedayo Abegunde and Director-General of the Akeredolu Campaign Platform Victor Olabimtan.

Akeredolu said if elected, his government will continue with the residency card policy and will be made available to residents free.

“I don’t believe in wholesome condemnation of whatever the previous government has done, but what I believe is that, if Kaadi Igbe Ayo is meant as an identity for Ondo indigenes, so be it.

“But if it is now deplored for other uses detrimental to the people, we will stop it.”
